Eugene Byers, a.k.a. Mean Gene, is a lifelong criminal. As his former boxing coach, he’s a father figure to Hector, and as such, has played a key role in Hector’s life for many years. Like everyone else, Mean Gene is not aware that Hector is The CALICO, but has noticed a pronounced change in Hector’s mood over the past few years, and has his suspicions. Mean Gene is a prickly individual who is bothered by virtually everything, and has an opinion about everything, and everyone. Despite his abrasive personality, Mean Gene has a warm heart and genuinely cares about Hector, as well as Primo and Flaco.
