Comics Legend Chuck Dixon Voices Support for CALICO
Chuck Dixon Says – Support Good Comics.
March 15, 2021 – New York, NY – In a series of Facebook posts, legendary Marvel and DC comic book writer, Chuck Dixon, voiced his support for Here Comes CALICO, the new comic book series from SIGMA COMICS, LLC, a comic book publisher dedicated to fighting animal abuse. Issue #2 is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter until March 24, 2021.
In the first post, Dixon alerts his fans to Here Comes CALICO #2 on Kickstarter.
In the second post, Dixon presses his fans to support the comic book before its crowdfunding run ends.
CALICO creator and writer, H.H. German, was humbled and thankful for the support. “Chuck Dixon is an undisputed legend in comic books,” said German. “Moreover, he’s a seminal creator in the comic book series of two characters that are both highly influential to me, and our series, The Punisher and Batman.” Dixon’s work on the latter’s Detective Comics is widely regarded as among the most renowned in the series. As a result, the award-winning writer was DC Comics’ most prolific Batman writer in the 1990s, while also writing on several Punisher titles, as well as collaborating with fellow industry legends Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld, on their Image Comics’ titles. “Now all we need is Mike Baron and Frank Miller to support and we’ll be all set,” joked German.
Here Comes CALICO, which received early guidance from another legendary comic book creator, Klaus Jansen, has received rave reviews from comic book experts and pros alike. “This is not Batman. It’s groundbreaking for comic books,” said industry-veteran Wild Bill of Youtube channel Comic Book Geezers. “The whole scenario is something that’s never been addressed before, that I’m aware of. I’ve never seen anything like this in comics, so I think this is pretty cool.”
Set in the rough outer boroughs of New York City, Here Comes CALICO follows Hector Gil, a former boxer from The Bronx with a huge chip on his shoulder, created by life regrets. He decides to enter a prestigious boxing tournament, and as he trains, his new Brooklyn neighbors are unaware of the double-life he leads. On choice evenings, Hector Gil becomes the CALICO, to pay unfriendly visits to people who abuse and kill animals. He is supported by a varied network of technically savvy and resourceful data professionals, all bent on making sure CALICO completes his missions without a hitch.
