Sigma Comics Sells 470 Lbs at Comic-Con International

The Best-Selling Comic Book on the American Conventions Circuit!
August 12, 2025 – New York, NY – Sigma Comics’ flagship title, Here Comes CALICO, continues to prove that it is the best-selling comic book on the American Pop Culture Conventions Circuit. The company featured both of their trade paperback books, CALICO: Street Math and CALICO: Morality Play, as well as single issues of Here Comes CALICO, and their manga line.
“We sold 470 pounds of comics in four days,” said H.H. German, Sigma Comics’ founder and creator of Here Comes CALICO. “Most comic book shops can’t do that with a shop full of Marvel, DC and Image Comics books. We do it with one title every weekend. We obtained confirmation from several of the largest event organizers in the country, but for obvious reasons, they’re not allowed to publicly support the claim, as it would be showing favoritism and promoting one customer over another.”
Asked how the title has become so popular on the conventions circuit, German said, “We have the best price for a new book, a very compelling protagonist, a beautiful-looking book, and a great cause… fighting animal abuse through comics. Attendees are having to pay upwards to $5-10 for a comic book, after they’ve already paid another fee just to get in. They see a book that looks incredible with a super low price, and then they learn that they’d be supporting a charitable cause, and it’s a wrap.”
Asked what prompted Sigma Comics to focus on conventions, German said, “We tried going the comic shop route but most of the shop owners ignored us. If you’re not Marvel, DC or Image, many shops don’t care. But we turned it into a blessing because if it wasn’t for getting their cold shoulder, we’d have never known how popular our title would get by selling directly to customers. We sell more comics than most comic shops in just 3-4 days, every weekend, than many shops sell all month.”
Here Comes CALICO is a hard-hitting comic book and manga series, featuring the vicious antihero, The CALICO, who stalks and viciously murders people who torture animals. Despite its highly-graphic nature, the series is in very high demand, as evident by it selling out at virtually every comic book convention. Asked if he harbors any bitterness toward comic shops for how the title has been kept down by shop owners, German said, “Of course not. Shop owners are some of the smartest business people on the planet, it’s just that their job is extremely difficult. They have to guess what’s going to work with their readers, while managing very difficult terms with distributors. I don’t blame them for being skeptical, but at this point it’s clear that we have a winning title that really resonated with many comic book readers. If we can sell 470 pounds of it in a handful of days, as non-sales people, any comic shop should be able to sell it like water in a desert.”
